treeWelcome
The counseling department at Valley Center Intermediate School offers a comprehensive school counseling program focused on helping each student develop the skills necessary to be successful in the areas of academic, personal-social, and career development.

The counseling program at VCIS consists of classroom guidance lessons as well as individual and small group counseling.

Classroom lessons support our VCIS Core Values based on our motto "Be The Change, Making a Difference Beyond You!" Classroom lessons take place every other week in each homeroom.

Small groups are offered at various times throughout the school year during MTSS and Explore time. Referrals can be made by students, staff, and parents.
Listed are a few groups that may be offered:
·         My Changing Family (children of divorce/separation)
·         Chillin’ Out (anger management/impulse control)
·         Grief Group
·         Social Skills

imageMy name is Nicole Burdette. I am a Valley Center native, graduating from VCHS in 1998. I earned my BA at Wichita State in 2005 and my MS in School Counseling at Emporia State University in 2012.

My husband, Jason, works Cessna Aircraft and together we have three children, Katelyn- 8, Alayna-5, and Jackson-4. In my very limited amount of free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, scrapbooking, and photography.

What's Happening?

The VCIS Student Council provides opportunities for students to practice citizenship and demonstrate positive leadership. STUCO is made up of one classroom representative and one alternate from each homeroom. Meetings are held twice a month on Thursdays before school.
